Methodology

How Beacon Index Works

A structured approach to measuring organisational psychosocial risk exposure — calibrated for governance oversight and continuous improvement.

The Assessment

Five Questions. Evidence-Calibrated Score.

Beacon Index uses a focused five-question assessment to generate a composite 0–100 risk score. Each question maps to a calibrated domain, producing a governance-ready metric in under two minutes.

Question 2 of 5

How would you describe the level of support available to your team?

1

Limited

Insufficient resources

2

Moderate

Adequate support

3

Strong

Excellent resources

Low Risk High Risk

Each response maps to calibrated thresholds. The final score aggregates across all five domains.

The Methodology

Evidence-Calibrated Scoring

Beacon Index thresholds are derived from psychosocial hazard research and aligned to ISO 45003:2021 — the international standard for managing psychosocial health and safety at work.

Each of the five domains maps to ISO 45003 hazard categories, ensuring the instrument captures system-level conditions rather than individual sentiment. The scoring algorithm preserves core weighting integrity while allowing organisations to align tolerance bands to their specific governance framework.
